Account Size [setting] –
The customer determines how much information exists on their local computer that they wish to automatically archive. Then they set the maximum size of their backup account to allow for all this information to backup, plus sufficient space to accommodate new and changed files that will be created.
If the account size is too small, the account will quickly fill up and backups will no longer take place.
Account size can be upgraded on an as needed basis by logging into the website where you purchased the PCS WorldNet service.
Information on the size of your account and whether or not you are close to filling it can be found on the daily backup report.
Directory - This is another name for folder.
Encryption Key – The encryption key is created by the client. It is a phrase or combination of any character on the keyboard including spaces and/or symbols that is used to secure your data during transmission and storage at the data centre. The key is essential to restoring information to a new computer. If needed, it is possible to select to store a secure copy of the key at the data centre.
Your key along with your user name and password are automatically configured into your software before you download it to your computer.
File Versioning – PCS WorldNet - e-Safe is designed to save up to 3 copies of changed files [only.]
This is useful with files that may be added to. If a file becomes corrupted or infected by an undocumented virus, you can download an earlier 'clean' copy from your archive. This would keep you from losing most of your work on this file.can be set to save more than one copy of a file. This is useful when a file is changed frequently. If this file becomes corrupted and PCS WorldNet and or our associates are storing more than one file version, it is possible to restore an earlier copy.
If a file is not changed, no more than one copy is saved.
Full Backup – This backup contains all information from the past through to the day the backup is made. When you start your e-Safe account the software is automatically set to complete a full backup of everything in your targeted directories. After this backup completes the software automatically sets itself to the incremental backup mode.
GUI – Graphic User Interface or the console, which shows the operating condition of the PCS WorldNer service.
Incremental Backup - Backs up new and changed files only.
Synchronization - In an effort to make sure your backups are complete, e-Safe will 'synchronise' your archive with the local directory each time a backup takes place. It will check the directories targeted for backup, compare them to the archives and then fill any holes in the archive.
