<%@LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" CODEPAGE="1252"%> e-Safet Help - Archive Size Management

PCS WorldNet's e-Safe is a high security service that will maintain your computer archives no matter what happens on your local computer. Therefore, if a file grows out of date and you delete it from your local computer that will not automatically delete it from your archive. This is in place so that if you accidentally delete a file from your computer it will be possible to recover it later from the archive when you notice it is missing.
From time to time you may wish to take a few minutes and manage your archive to free space for new files that will need to be backed up.
How do I clear files out of my archive that no longer exist on my local computer?
Select the Archive Function pulldown menu and choose Delete out-of-date files.
e-Safe will automatically scan your archive, then compare it to your local disk drives. Depending upon how much information is in your archive and resident on your local computer, this may take a while.
When the list is complete you will be able to pick and choose the files you no longer wish to keep in your archive.
Then click the Delete Files button to start the deletion process. You will be asked to validate the delete process so you don’t make a mistake.
If you wish to remove all the files in your archive that no longer exist in your local computer select the check box at the very top of the list. This will only remove the files that appear in this list not everything in the archive.
How do I clear files out of my archive that are no longer important enough to keep in the archive?
This is a two step process since you must remove the files from the archive and also deselect them from the backup set. If you do not remove them from the backup set e-Safe will just back them up again in an effort to keep your archive complete.
To remove files from the backup set click on the Backup Selections button. This will open the list of all the files in your local computer. Scroll down the list and uncheck the box to the left of any file or directory you wish to remove from your archives permanently.
The next step is to remove those unimportant files from your archive. Select‘delete files’ archive pulldown menu and use this tool to remove files from the archive.
